AP Studio Art (2019-2020)

I start each artwork with chaos. My oil paintings begin as a garish red blocks, my watercolor works begin as lax pencil lines, and my photoshop files begin as clusters of brush textures. With time, I carve the red oil paints into strong contours. Making use of its thickness, I layer the oil pigments. Soon the red underpainting appears only in the small cracks of my coherent artwork. With each wash, my watercolors conceal the messy sketch. And, as I trim the pixels, the textures begin to form figures. In its completion, my work becomes coherent. In each piece, I’ve attempted to organize my thoughts which I examine through art.
